Free ranging buffalo are virtually non-existent in today's America. We do all we can to re-create a historic hunt of a lifetime.

The emphasis of our hunts is on the historical and spiritual relationship, which existed between the hunter/Indian and the buffalo. We honor our buffalo by Native American traditions. Each hunt is preceded by a Sioux "smudge feather" ceremony. After taking your bull you perform a sacred Crow "tobacco" ceremony which guides the fallen bull on his way to the "Great Spirit Herd." Your experience continues with the blood marking ceremony in which you honor the bull you have taken.

All hunts are conducted on foot: no blinds, tree stands or vehicles are allowed. We want to provide you with a new hunting experience while assuring your success. We are NOT open prairie. Rather, we have heavy hard wood timber, brush, creeks and some open meadows. Rifle hunters can expect a 70-125 yard shot. With time, bow hunters can expect a 25-35 yard shot.

Most hunts will last 2 days. On day one we locate the bulls and you pick out the bull you want. We do not tell you which bull to shoot. You make the decision.

We hunt the year round. Winter, prime hide hunts run from mid-October into early March. No license is required and there are no trophy fees.

All hunts are a complete package including meals (buffalo steak) , lodging in our 1870 ranch home and guide service. An immediate family member may come along at no charge. A non-hunting companion may join you for a flat fee of $100.

If flying, we will meet your flight in Waterloo which is one hour South of the ranch. However, most hunters prefer to terminate their flight in Minneapolis and drive directly to the ranch. We are three hours straight South of the Twin Cities airport; just off highway #63.

All hunts are 1 x 1; we book only one party at a time and we take only one buffalo per day. Evenings are spent around the fireplace with drinks of your choice and buffalo hors d'oeuvres. All parties receive the same amenities, regardless of the hunt price. Price is determined by the size of the bull you select.

Prices range from $2500 to $5000. Exceptional bulls can run higher. All hunts include the head, hide and skull. You have several options regarding meat. The option that appeals to most hunters is to take meat which is already processed and in our freezers. If you choose this option, you may take home 20% of the hunt value in processed meat. (A $3000 hunt would include $600 in processed meat.) Processed meat prices average approximately $8 per pound.

Our processed meats are boneless, individually sealed, frozen and ready to take home in your cooler. You may take your choice of cuts.

Winter Buffalo If you prefer meat from your own bull, you may take one half of the bull. With this option you must pay for your own butchering and processing costs.

Caping, taxidermy, and tanning fees are not included. At your request, we will make all arrangements for pickup and shipping.

Bull sizes range from a 1000 lb. 3 yr. old to a 13 yr. old weighing a ton or more.

A deposit of $500 is required to hold a date. Your commitment to a date allows us to provide you with the best possible bull. We accompany all hunters, but require a liability release before hunting. Buffalo are incredibly alert, fast and agile. They can be extremely dangerous.
